Basically, I’ve always been into the woo-woo. But as a former journalist, and a general feet-on-the-ground sort of pragmatist, I haven’t always let people in on that. As a teenager. I indulged in daily horoscopes, used Linda Goodman’s Sun Signs to analyze and dissect all my friends, and eventually learned some basic “cookbook” synastry to see how I matched with my latest crush. And while these things provided me hours of entertainment, I always felt like there was more to it than Sun Sign stereotypes and general synopses of natal chart placements. So I started digging into technical books, only to quickly become overwhelmed, confused, and frustrated by all the intricacies of planets, houses, and signs.
Later, things shifted as astrology went online. I devoured blogs and podcasts, and as I started to look at key times in my own life, patterns began to emerge. And it led to some questions. Like, why did it seem like Saturn was hitting an angle whenever I experienced a major change? Or why did I feel compelled to write out my big dreams whenever there was a New Moon in Leo? Strange.
I was intrigued and soon found myself enrolling in online classes with a host of wonderful mentors who knew way more about this stuff than I did. And so I learned, grew, and started to understand that astrology wasn’t about “fortune telling.” It was an organizing system for understanding the cycles of the natural world, the interplay of the four elements, and how this relates to our personal cycles of learning and growth. And I was determined to use my knowledge of how it works to help others learn, grow, and live better lives.
My approach to interpreting astrological charts is based mostly on traditional Western techniques (I generally use whole sign houses and traditional rulerships) with a bit of a modern bent. My goal is to make astrology a useful tool by speaking in plain language and engaging in a conversation about your patterns, themes, and possibilities.
